Get Walking!

You know it’s good for you, but there are so many reasons not to add a walk to your daily schedule. You’re busy, tired, and overwhelmed by life.

Did you know walking fifteen minutes a day helps you cope with these frustrations, as it increases your physical and mental health? Another important fact: not walking or exercising increases your chance of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and other life-threatening conditions.

So ā€“ why aren’t you walking?

Here’s a simple plan to help you put one foot in front of the other ā€“ safely:

1. Call for a chiropractic treatment. Spinal adjustments increase ease of movement, and lessen your chances of injury. To gain and maintain athletic ability, it’s a good idea to see your chiropractor regularly.

2. Make sure your shoes are in good walking order.

3. Walk. Start with 15 minutes and increase your time as you go. Don’t let boredom stop you ā€“ listen to music or an audio book while you cover some ground. If your balance is off, buy an inexpensive walking pole. Some people find increased stability using a set of what are called walking poles.

4. Before and after each walk, drink some water.

That’s all it takes to get walking. What are you waiting for?
